NOVEMBER TO MARCH . SANT LLORENC DES CARDASSAR
Working and living in Mallorca during the winter.
Tuesday, 11 a.m., video call with London. It's three degrees there and drizzling. The sun is shining on your window, and after the call, instead of taking the train to the office, you cycle for 30 minutes through unspoiled nature to the Serra de Llevant. Sauna in the evening.
This is what a winter day looks like at Townhouse No. 12.

We gladly rent out the house from November to March, even for several weeks at a time. It's ideal for people who want to work remotely, singles, couples, and groups of friends looking to escape the German winter, golfers who want to play a whole season instead of just a week, and cyclists who want to explore one of the most beautiful areas of the island.

The house has a dedicated workspace with a desk and chair – in a separate building above the former garage. This allows you to work undisturbed. The internet connection is fiber optic with a speed of 500 Mbps (according to the provider , Connecta Balear ). The reality, as always, is a bit different: but 210 Mbps is still better than some connections in England ;-)
Warm, even when it 's not warm outside.
Mallorca is mild in winter, but it's not really summer. Daytime temperatures often reach 20 degrees Celsius, but it can get chilly at night. That's why the house has underfloor heating, and after a hike or a round of golf, the infrared sauna awaits.
The pool is not heated in winter. In Mallorca, private pools may only be heated with renewable energy, and for that we would need a solar panel area, which the roof doesn't provide.
Die-hards jump in anyway. Feel free!
Winter as tourists don't know it.
The almond trees are in bloom in January and February, turning the fields around the village white and pink. The golf courses in Son Servera, Pula, Canyamel, and Capdepera are open year-round [check: winter prices and winter season for the four courses]. The Via Verde (Greenway) begins at the historic Sant Llorenç train station, accessible on foot. It forms part of the approximately 30-kilometer-long cycling and hiking trail along the old railway line between Manacor and Artà. In the Serra de Llevant mountains, you can often hike for hours without encountering another soul.
Life goes on in the village because people live here. There's a baker, a butcher, and three small supermarkets. For larger shopping trips, you go to Manacor, five kilometers away.

Symphony on Fridays, jazz on Sundays.
Anyone who thinks there's nothing going on in Mallorca in winter hasn't been here in winter. Just fifteen minutes from the house, classical music is regularly performed in the Manacor auditorium , including concerts by the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra.
Every Sunday there is a concert at the S'Escat jazz club in Manacor, followed by a jam session where anyone who dares can join in.
And right in our village, the Espai 36 cultural center invites you to jazz-
and piano recitals on his studio stage
And those who love grand opera go to Palma to listen and watch.
There, in the stunningly beautiful " Teatre Principal " (which looks like La Scala in Milan!), opened in 1857, international productions are shown.

We eat here ourselves.
Many restaurants in Sant Llorenç and the neighboring towns are open all year round. Three of them are our favorites.
El Hontanar is located on the market square, just a few minutes' walk from the house. So the evening won't end with the question of who's driving. Our friends Gustavo and Laura also serve an incredibly delicious paella (you wouldn't believe it, but it's not something you find very often on the island!). The paella absolutely must be ordered by phone in advance!
In Manacor, Mamacona serves creative Peruvian cuisine. The "Pancetta Oriental" and "Risotto Huancaina" are absolutely delicious!
And right next to the large parish church of Manacor sits the small wine bistro Cru . She cooks, he serves – and both at a very high level. They also offer excellent organic wines that aren't yet widely known...
